Standard for Electric Spas, Equipment Assemblies, and Associated Equipment

The UL 1563:2020 standard provides requirements for self-contained spas, field-installed equipment assemblies, blowers, and controls used with field-installed hot tubs, swimming pools, and non-self-contained spas. These products are intended for both household and commercial use, and can be installed and used indoors, outdoors, or both, in accordance with Article 680 of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
The standard also covers field-installed accessories that have been investigated with the basic product. However, it specifically excludes products that are already covered by other UL Standards. These include underwater luminaires and submersible junction boxes (UL 676), swimming pool pumps, filters, and chlorinators (UL 1081), electric water heaters for pools and tubs (UL 1261), professional hydrotherapy equipment (UL 1431), and hydromassage bathtubs (UL 1795).
