Standard EN SampleMulti-Point Interconnection Power Cable Assemblies for Industrial Machinery
Also Known As:
UL 2237:2021 is a standard that covers multi-point interconnection power cable assemblies used with industrial machinery. These assemblies consist of power cable assemblies, male or female power cable fittings, panel-mounted power cable/conductor fittings, and feeder-tap power cable fittings. The standard applies to devices with system voltages up to and including 1,000 V and is in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, NFPA 79.
The interconnection power cable assemblies covered by this standard are intended for use in industrial environments to distribute power to feeder and branch circuits, including motor branch circuits, of industrial machinery. These devices are specifically designed for indoor use unless otherwise specified. They are rated for 1,000 V or less and each device is marked with its electrical ratings in volts and amperes.
It is important to note that the power cable assemblies and fittings covered by this standard are not meant to make or interrupt current under load conditions. They are investigated for their marked short-circuit current rating and may specify a maximum ampere rating or type of overcurrent protective device. These power cable assemblies and fittings are not substitutes for the fixed wiring of a building or structure, but they can be connected to the fixed wiring using a feeder tap fitting or male/female cable fitting.
It's worth mentioning that this standard does not cover male-to-male cable assemblies or multi-outlet fittings. Additionally, the devices covered by this standard are intended for use only with the manufacturer's same line of products in compliance with UL 2237. They are not intended to serve as disconnecting means under load conditions unless specifically investigated and marked accordingly.
