Standard EN SampleStandard for Heat Reclaimers for Gas-, Oil-, or Solid Fuel-Fired Appliances
Also Known As:
UL 462:2013 is a standard that covers heat reclaimers designed to recover heat from the flue gases of gas-, oil-, or solid fuel-fired appliances. These heat reclaimers are intended for use in heating spaces or water. They are installed on the vent or chimney connectors of the appliances and are attached to a Type B or Type L vent or a metal or masonry chimney. The heat reclaimers are rated for a maximum flue gas temperature of 1000°F (538°C).
The standard specifies that the heat reclaimers should be installed by a qualified agency in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the relevant safety standards such as NFPA 211 or NFPA 54/ANSI Z223.1. If the heat reclaimers require electrical connections, they should be rated for 240 volts or less and installed in accordance with the requirements for ordinary locations in the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70). Heat reclaimers with plumbing connections should be installed in accordance with the applicable plumbing codes.
