Standard EN SampleStandard for Armored Cable
Also Known As:
The UL 4:2021 Standard for Armored Cable specifies the requirements for interlocked steel or aluminum armored cables. These cables are designed to contain 2, 3, or 4 insulated circuit conductors, ranging from 14 – 1 AWG, with or without grounding conductors. They are intended for use as Type AC Armored Cable in accordance with Article 320 and other relevant parts of the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70.
The standard covers cables that are suitable for use at potentials of 600 V or less. The temperature rating of these cables should not exceed 75°C (167°F) for Type ACTH or 90°C (194°F) for Types ACHH and ACTHH, depending on the temperature rating of the insulated conductors used. It is important to note that cables with aluminum armor can only be used with connectors other than the direct-bearing set-screw type and solely in alternating-current circuits.
