UL 1004-7:2018 PDF Download

The UL 1004-7:2018 standard supplements and amends the requirements outlined in the Standard for Rotating Electrical Machines - General Requirements, UL 1004-1. It applies to motors that rely on an electronic circuit to prevent overheating. These motors must also comply with the requirements specified in the Standard for Thermally Protected Motors, UL 1004-3, in terms of construction, performance, manufacturing and production tests, markings, and instructions, unless otherwise modified by this standard.

The purpose of this standard is to evaluate the combination of a specific motor and electronic protector. If any components of this combination are changed, the combination must be reevaluated. However, it's important to note that this standard does not cover sealed (hermetic) type compressor motors. Additionally, it does not apply to motors that comply with the requirements of the Standard for Impedance Protected Motors, UL 1004-2, or the Standard for Thermally Protected Motors, UL 1004-3, independently of the electronic circuit.
