Standard EN SampleLow Voltage LED Wire
Also Known As:
The UL 2592:2019 standard is a set of requirements for low voltage LED wire used in various applications such as signs, outline lighting, and interior lighting. The wire is single-conductor or multi-conductor, unjacketed, and available in different sizes ranging from 18 AWG to 10 AWG. It is rated for temperatures ranging from 105°C to 250°C and can handle voltages of either 300 or 600 volts.
This wire is suitable for installation in dry and damp locations, as well as wet locations. It is specifically designed for use in situations where the wire is only connected to the output of the driver to the LED array and is only accessible during user servicing of the sign. Therefore, it is not required to be additionally enclosed by the sign enclosure.
The standard also mentions that assemblies containing these wires, intended for use as components of signs, must comply with the requirements in the UL 879 standard for Electric-Sign Components. Additionally, wires marked with "-EX" are specifically designed for use as exposed runs between a cable tray and utilization equipment, where they are continuously supported and protected against physical damage using mechanical protection apparatus like struts, angles, or channels.
