Standard EN SampleAutomatic Electrical Controls for Household and Similar Use, Part 2-5: Particular Requirements for Automatic Electrical Burner Control Systems
Also Known As:
UL 60730-2-5:2019 is a standard that applies to automatic electrical burner control systems used in household and similar environments such as heating and air conditioning systems. The standard covers the control of burners that use oil, gas, coal, or other combustible materials. It also includes the requirements for separate programming units, electronic high-voltage ignition sources, and flame detectors.
The standard specifies the safety requirements and operating values for the burner control systems, including testing procedures. It is applicable to systems with a rated voltage not exceeding 660 V and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. The primary input circuit of the system should be a two-wire, one-side-grounded system with a voltage rating of not more than 120 volts, and there should be a switch or protective device in the circuit connected to the ungrounded supply conductor.
The standard does not take into account the response value of the control's automatic action if it depends on the method of mounting the control in the equipment. However, if the response value is significant for user protection or safety, it should comply with the relevant household equipment standard or be determined by the manufacturer.
The standard also includes requirements for systems incorporating electronic devices and provides reference to other normative standards for environmental testing, fuses, switchgear and controlgear, transformers, and surge protective devices, among others.
