UL 1063:2020 is a standard that covers all-thermoplastic Type MTW machine-tool wires and cables. These wires and cables are intended for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) and the National Fire Protection Association Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery (ANSI/NFPA 79). They are designed to comply with a flame test and can be used at temperatures up to 90°C (194°F) in dry locations and 60°C (140°F) in locations exposed to moisture, oil, or coolants.

The standard provides specifications for single-conductor constructions of these wires and cables. Table 1.1 in the standard outlines the minimum average thickness and minimum thickness at any point of the insulation and nylon jacket for different conductor sizes. The sizes range from 22 AWG to 4/0, and there are specific requirements for each size. The standard also includes provisions for conductor sizes that don't correspond to the standard AWG or kcmil sizes as long as they meet certain criteria regarding dc resistance and other specifications.

In addition to single-conductor constructions, the standard also covers multiple-conductor constructions, which consist of assemblies of the single-conductor constructions enclosed by a PVC jacket. The single-conductor constructions can be optionally shielded and jacketed.
