Standard EN SampleStandard for Photovoltaic Wire
Also Known As:
UL 4703:2020 is a standard that specifically addresses single-conductor, insulated, and jacketed wires used in photovoltaic systems. These wires are designed to be resistant to sunlight and are available in different temperature ratings, including 90°C, 105°C, 125°C, or 150°C in dry conditions, and 90°C in wet conditions. The voltage ratings for these wires can be 600V, 1000V, or 2000V.
The purpose of this standard is to ensure that the wires used in interconnection wiring of grounded and ungrounded photovoltaic power systems comply with the electrical safety requirements. The standard refers to Article 690, Part IV, Wiring Methods, and other relevant parts of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70. The UL 4703:2020 standard helps to ensure the safe and reliable operation of photovoltaic systems by specifying the construction, performance, and testing requirements for these wires.
