Also Known As:
UL 60335-2-68:2021 is a standard that specifically addresses the safety requirements for electrical portable, non-self-propelled motor-operated spray extraction machines for commercial indoor use. These machines are used in various locations such as hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, retail outlets, business premises, and rental services. They do not have a traction drive and can be powered by mains with a rated voltage of up to 250V for single-phase appliances and 480V for other appliances, as well as battery power.
The standard applies to spray extraction machines with a cleaning agent pressure not exceeding 2.5 MPa, a product of pressure and flow not exceeding 100, and a spray nozzle outlet temperature not exceeding 85°C. However, it does not cover vacuum cleaners, water-suction cleaning appliances for household use, floor treatment machines, wet and dry vacuum cleaners for commercial use, or hand-held and transportable motor-operated electric tools.
Additionally, the standard does not apply to machines designed for use in corrosive or explosive environments, picking up hazardous dusts or inflammable substances, handling hazardous solvents, or any machines with specific requirements specified by national health authorities, protection of labor authorities, water supply authorities, and similar authorities.
Some modifications were made to the original clauses, including updates to references of other standards such as CSA C22.2 No. 243/UL 1017, CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60335-2-67/UL 60335-2-67, CSA C22.2 No. 10, UL 558, UL 561, UL 583, CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-69/UL 60335-2-69, CSA/UL 60745 series, CSA 61029 series, CSA C22.2 No. 71.2, UL 987, and CSA/UL 62841 series.
