Standard EN SampleStandard for Low-Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear - Part 7-2: Ancillary Equipment - Protective Conductor Terminal Blocks for Copper Conductors
Also Known As:
UL 60947-7-2:2021 is a standard that specifies the requirements for protective conductor terminal blocks used in low-voltage switchgear and controlgear. These terminal blocks are designed for copper conductors and are primarily used in industrial applications. The standard covers terminal blocks with PE function up to 120 mm² and terminal blocks with PEN function equal to or greater than 10 mm².
The protective conductor terminal blocks are used to establish electrical and mechanical connections between copper conductors and the fixing support. They are suitable for round copper conductors with a cross-section ranging from 0.2 mm² to 120 mm². The terminal blocks can be used in circuits with a rated voltage not exceeding 1,000 V AC up to 1,000 Hz or 1,500 V DC. This standard is often used in conjunction with terminal blocks according to IEC 60947-7-1.
The standard also includes modifications and additions, such as allowing for insulation displacement terminals, specifying the use of clamping units instead of terminals, and prohibiting terminal blocks with PEN function. It may also be used as a guide for terminal blocks requiring special devices for connection or those providing direct contact to conductors through insulation displacement connections.
