The UL 60947-5-5:2019 standard specifies the requirements for the construction and testing of emergency stop devices with mechanical latching function. These devices are used to initiate an emergency stop signal in electrical control circuits.
The standard applies to both stand-alone devices with their own enclosures and devices installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. It does not apply to emergency stop devices for non-electrical control circuits, such as hydraulic or pneumatic systems, nor does it cover devices without mechanical latching function.
Emergency stop devices with mechanical latching function can also be used to provide an emergency switching off function. However, the standard does not address specific requirements on noise, as the noise emission of these devices is not considered to be a relevant hazard.
It is worth noting that the standard references section 9.2.5.4 of IEC 60204-1:2005, which may provide additional guidance or requirements related to electrical emergency stop devices with mechanical latching function.
