UL 635:2021 is a standard that covers insulating bushings and accessories used in electrical equipment. The standard specifies the requirements for insulating bushings in various applications. These include insulating bushings used for the protection of cables, flexible cords, and insulated wires when routed through internal or external walls of electrical equipment. It also covers insulating bushings used for strain relief and protection of flexible cords and single conductor insulated wiring.

However, there are certain applications that are not covered by this standard. These include bushings for the protection of uninsulated conductors, strain-relief insulating bushings used to hold multiple cables or wires, bushings that are an integral part of a flexible cord, and bushings used in conjunction with conduit fittings and other types of cable. The standard also does not cover bushings intended for outdoor use, high voltage power apparatus, or bushings for armored cable between the conductors and the outer armor.

The standard specifies that when a requirement applies to a specific type of bushing, it will be identified by a specific reference to that type. In the absence of such reference, or when the terms "bushing" or "insulating bushing" are used generally, the requirement applies to all other types of bushings covered by the standard.
