Standard EN SampleStandard for Safety-Related Solid-State Controls for Household Electric Ranges
Also Known As:
The UL 858A:2013 standard is a set of safety requirements specifically for solid-state controls used in household electric ranges. These controls can perform various functions such as controlling cooktop heating elements, regulating oven temperatures (both normal operating temperatures and self-cleaning cycle operating temperatures), managing the oven's self-cleaning cycle door lock system, controlling necessary signal lights or audible alarms, serving as a temperature-limiting control for any of these functions, and controlling other essential functions for compliance with the Standard for Household Electric Ranges, UL 858.
These requirements are designed to complement and, in some cases, amend the requirements stated in other related standards such as UL 858 (Standard for Household Electric Ranges), UL 873 (Standard for Temperature-Indicating and -Regulating Equipment), UL 991 (Standard for Tests for Safety-Related Controls Employing Solid-State Devices), UL 60730-1 (Standard for Automatic Electrical Controls for Household and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements), and the applicable Part 2 standard from the UL 60730 series.
