Standard EN SampleAutomatic Electrical Controls - Part 2-7: Particular Requirements for Timers and Time Switches
Also Known As:
UL 60730-2-7:2020 is a standard that specifies the particular requirements for timers and time switches used in various applications, including heating, air conditioning, and similar systems. It applies to timers that may use different energy sources such as electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, or solar thermal energy. The standard also covers timers that are part of a control system or integrated into multifunctional controls with non-electrical outputs.
The standard excludes time-delay switches within the scope of IEC 60669-2-3 and devices that only indicate time or passage of time. It also does not apply to multi-functional controls that have an integrated timing function that cannot be tested separately.
Additionally, UL 60730-2-7 extends its applicability to timers used in appliances and other apparatus for household and similar purposes, including timers for equipment used in shops, light industry, farms, and other public settings. It also includes timers for appliances within the scope of IEC 60335-1.
The standard is also applicable to timers incorporating electronic devices, with specific requirements outlined in Annex H. It also covers timers using NTC or PTC thermistors, with additional requirements described in Part 1, Annex J.
Normative references included in the standard specify other relevant documents and standards to be followed. These references include IEC 60669-1:1998, which outlines general requirements for switches in household and similar fixed-electrical installations, and IEC 60695-11-10:2013, which covers fire hazard testing with specific test flames.
