UL 60335-2-67:2017 is a standard that addresses the safety requirements for powered floor treatment machines used for commercial purposes. These machines are designed for various applications such as scrubbing, wet or dry pick-up, polishing and dry buffing, application of wax and sealing products, shampooing, and stripping, grinding, and scarifying of floors with artificial surfaces. The cleaning motion of these machines is more lateral or periodic rather than linear, distinguishing them from machines covered by other standards.

This standard applies to powered floor treatment machines used in commercial settings, including public use areas, industrial locations, retail outlets, business premises, and any other uses beyond normal housekeeping purposes. The machines covered in this standard are not equipped with traction drive. They can be powered by internal combustion engines, mains powered motors, or battery-powered motors. Battery-powered machines may also have a built-in battery charger.

It is important to note that this standard does not apply to household vacuum cleaners, water-suction cleaning appliances, floor treatment machines for household use, spray extraction machines for commercial use, wet and dry vacuum cleaners for commercial use, floor treatment machines with or without traction drive, handheld and transportable motor-operated electric tools, machines designed for use in corrosive or explosive environments, machines designed for picking up hazardous dusts or inflammable substances, and machines designed for use in vehicles, ships, or aircraft.

Additional requirements for the safe use of the equipment covered by this standard may be specified by national health authorities, authorities responsible for labor protection, water supply authorities, and similar authorities in different countries. The standard also includes modifications to Clause 1, specifying the energy sources or power systems that are covered and excluding specific items from the scope of the standard.
