UL 61010-2-011:2021 is a standard titled "Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control, and Laboratory Use - Part 2-011: Particular Requirements for Refrigerating Equipment." The scope of this standard specifies the safety requirements for three types of electrical equipment and their accessories, namely equipment that incorporates refrigerating systems as an integral part, equipment that incorporates refrigerating systems as a separate component, and equipment that is in direct control of the refrigerating system.

This standard applies to equipment that uses up to 150g of flammable refrigerant per stage of the refrigerating system. If the amount of flammable refrigerant exceeds this limit, additional requirements beyond the scope of this document will apply. Examples of refrigerating equipment covered by this standard include laboratory refrigerators, freezers, and refrigerated display cabinets.

It is important to note that certain equipment may fall within the scope of multiple Part 2 standards of IEC 61010. In such cases, the requirements of those other Part 2 standards will also apply. For instance, if the equipment is intended to be used as a centrifuge, the requirements of IEC 61010-2-020 will be applicable. However, if the equipment incorporates both a refrigerating system and a heating function that introduces additional or more severe hazards, IEC 61010-2-012 may be applicable instead of this Part 2-011.
