The UL 1066:2017 standard covers various types of low-voltage AC and DC power circuit breakers. It includes stationary-mounted or drawout-mounted types with 2-pole, 3-pole, and 4-pole constructions. The standard also applies to drawout-mounted type low-voltage AC integrally fused power circuit breakers, which are low-voltage AC power circuit breakers with integral current limiters or fuses. It also covers low-voltage AC fuse draw-outs, which consist of current limiters or fuses in a drawout assembly connected in series with a low-voltage AC power circuit breaker to form a fused circuit breaker. Additionally, the standard includes general purpose type low-voltage DC power circuit breakers.

The equipment covered by this standard is intended for use in ordinary locations as per the National Electrical Code. It is also designed to complement and be used in conjunction with several other standards, including IEEE C37.13, IEEE C37.14, IEEE C37.20.1, ANSI C37.50, and ANSI C37.51.

Furthermore, the standard covers equipment rated 1000 V or less nominal, with a maximum AC voltage of 1058 V and a maximum DC voltage of 1500 V. It is important to note that this standard does not apply to molded-case circuit breakers. The circuit breakers are intended for installation in various enclosures such as circuit breaker enclosures, switchboards, panelboards, etc. The acceptability of the combination of a circuit breaker with respect to any enclosure is determined by evaluating the complete product.
