Standard for Commercial Electric Personal Grooming Appliances
Also Known As:
UL 1727:2021 is a standard that specifically addresses electric personal grooming appliances used in commercial establishments like beauty parlors, barber shops, or cosmetic studios. These appliances include hair curlers, hair dryers, combs, brushes, and similar devices. The standard requires these appliances to comply with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, ensuring their safe use by qualified personnel.
It's important to note that this standard excludes therapeutic lamps, diathermy equipment, massage machines, vibrators, hair clippers, shavers, facial caps, masks, mitts, and other appliances that fall under different requirements, such as the Standard for Medical Electrical Equipment (UL 60601-1). Additionally, UL 1727 does not cover hair curlers or dryers with a voltage rating exceeding 250 volts.
