UL 98C:2017 PDF Download

The UL 98C:2017 standard provides requirements for individually enclosed air switches rated 4000 A or less at 1000 V AC or DC. These switches have all current-carrying parts enclosed and can be operated manually using external handles. The standard is intended to be used in accordance with the National Electrical Code.

The outline is designed to be used in conjunction with UL 98, the Standard for Enclosed Switches. It includes the modified sections from UL 98 that are applicable to switches within the specified voltage range. All other sections of UL 98 apply as written.

In addition to enclosed switches, the standard also covers dead-front switches that have all current-carrying parts enclosed when mounted in an enclosed panelboard, dead-front switchboard, or similar enclosures. These switches are also manually operable using external handles and are intended to comply with the National Electrical Code.

It is important to note that the standard does not cover fusible switches or switches with horsepower or kilowatt ratings. Therefore, any requirements related to these types of switches specified in UL 98 are not applicable to the switches covered under UL 98C:2017.
