Thermoset-Insulated Wires and Cables
Also Known As:
UL 44:2021 is a standard that specifies the requirements for thermoset-insulated wires and cables. These wires and cables are rated for different voltage levels (600 V, 1000 V, 2000 V, and 5000 V) and are intended for use in accordance with the electrical codes of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The standard provides a complete list of the types and voltage ratings covered, as well as the specific electrical codes to which they are intended.
In addition to single-conductor and multiple-conductor wires and cables, UL 44 also includes requirements for submersible pump cables used in deep well applications. These cables may have jackets or be jacketless, and they are not assigned type-letter designations.
It is important to note that products within the scope of this standard may have applications that are not covered by the listed electrical codes. Therefore, manufacturers and users need to consider any additional requirements or regulations when utilizing these wires and cables.
