It addresses the technical risk of insufficient inspection and testing for suspect counterfeit EEE parts. However, it does not address quality or reliability issues related to component production or mishandling.

The document also provides a terminology guide, specifying the meaning of terms such as "shall," "should," and "will" within the standard. It emphasizes the importance of obtaining parts from sources with known traceability to the Original Component Manufacturer (OCM) and recommends the use of trusted suppliers and logistics carriers with documented processes and procedures to prevent tampering.
