The NECA 407:2015 standard provides guidelines for the installation and maintenance of panelboards. It specifically outlines procedures to be followed after adverse operating conditions such as short-circuits, ground-faults, or exposure to water. This standard is applicable to panelboards with a rating of 600 Volts or less, including those with main disconnects or lugs, and with feeder or branch circuit overcurrent devices.

This standard is relevant for both single panelboards and multi-section panelboards that are installed in the field. It applies to panelboards used for distributing power in nonhazardous locations both indoors and outdoors, within commercial, institutional, and industrial settings.

However, it's important to note that this standard does not cover panelboards that are factory-installed within Listed enclosures or assemblies. Furthermore, live-front panelboards and panelboards with cast enclosures designed for hazardous or special service conditions are also not included in the scope of this publication.
