JIS C 8369:2020 standard provides the requirements for photoelectric controls used in public lighting systems. These controls, also known as PC switches, can be part of an integral system or a separate system, operating at a rated voltage of either 100 V or 200 V. The standard applies to outdoor installations under a.c. single-phase two-wire systems.
It should be noted that the standard applies to general outdoor areas and excludes specific environments. These excluded locations include places where corrosive gases are present, areas prone to salt damage such as seashores, and environments characterized by consistently high temperature or high humidity.
