Standard EN SampleMechanical Vibration - Torsional Vibration of Rotating Machinery - Part 1: Land-based Steam and Gas Turbine Generator Sets in Excess of 50 MW
Also Known As:
ISO 22266-1:2009 is a standard that provides guidelines for assessing and addressing torsional vibration in the shaft system and long blades of land-based steam and gas turbine generator sets with power outputs exceeding 50 MW. The standard focuses on the torsional natural frequencies of the coupled shaft system, specifically at line and twice-line frequencies of the electrical network to which the generator set is connected.
In cases where the torsional natural frequencies do not comply with defined frequency margins, ISO 22266-1:2009 outlines possible actions that vendors can take. This standard is applicable to steam turbine generator sets with normal operating speeds of 1 500 r/min, 1 800 r/min, 3 000 r/min, and 3 600 r/min, as well as gas turbine generator sets with normal operating speeds of 3 000 r/min and 3 600 r/min.
The standard also covers the methods available for conducting analytical assessments and test validations of the shaft system's torsional natural frequencies. By providing specific criteria and recommendations, ISO 22266-1:2009 aims to ensure the safe and reliable operation of land-based turbine generator sets, minimizing the risks associated with torsional vibration.
