Standard EN SampleExplosive Atmospheres - Part 10-1: Classification of Areas - Explosive Gas Atmospheres
Also Known As: ANSI/ISA-60079-10-1 (12.24.01)-2014
ISA 60079-10-1 (12.24.01)-2014 is a standard that focuses on the classification of areas where there is a potential for the presence of flammable gas, vapor, or mist. The objective of this standard is to provide guidelines for determining the hazardous areas and to aid in the selection and installation of appropriate equipment for use in these areas.
This standard specifically addresses the ignition hazards that may arise from the presence of flammable gas or vapor mixed with air under normal atmospheric conditions. However, it does not pertain to hazards related to mines susceptible to firedamp, the processing and manufacture of explosives, areas with combustible dusts or fibers (refer to IEC 61241-10 / IEC ANSI/ISA-60079-10-2), catastrophic failures beyond the scope of abnormality covered by this standard, rooms used for medical purposes, or domestic premises.
