IEEE Standard Test Procedure for Polyphase Induction Motors and Generators
Also Known As: IEEE Std 112-2017
The IEEE 112-2017 standard provides instructions for conducting and reporting tests for polyphase induction motors and generators. The standard covers tests that are generally applicable and acceptable for these machines.
The scope of the standard encompasses both motors and generators, as many of the tests described can be applied to both types of machines. The standard does not separate the test procedure into clauses and subclauses specific to motors or generators. The term "motor" is used throughout the standard, but it can be replaced by the term "generator" if applicable. Similarly, the term "machine" can be substituted with either "motor" or "generator" when necessary.
The purpose of the standard is to guide users in conducting tests to determine the performance and characteristics of polyphase induction motors and generators. It provides instructions for commonly used tests, but it does not mandate the performance of any specific tests in a given transaction. Additional tests may be required depending on specific research or application needs.
