Safety of laser products - Part 4: Laser guards
Also Known As:
IEC 60825-4:2006+A1:2008+A2:2011 is a comprehensive standard that provides requirements for laser guards used in laser processing machines. The standard covers both permanent and temporary guards, including those used for service purposes. It includes specifications for various components of the guards, such as clear screens, viewing windows, panels, laser curtains, and walls.
The standard also specifies how to assess and specify the protective properties of a laser guard, as well as how to select an appropriate guard for a specific application. It is important to note that the requirements for beam path components, beam stops, and other parts of a protective housing that do not enclose the process zone are covered in a separate standard, IEC 60825-1.
Amendment 1 of the standard includes an additional annex that addresses the arrangement, installation, and use of guided beam delivery systems. Amendment 2 updates the annex related to the testing of proprietary laser guards.
