Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies - Part 2: Power switchgear and controlgear assemblies
Also Known As:
IEC 61439-2:2011 is a standard that specifically outlines the requirements for power switchgear and controlgear assemblies (PSC-ASSEMBLIES). This standard applies to assemblies that have a rated voltage of up to 1,000 V for AC or 1,500 V for DC. These assemblies can be either stationary or movable and may or may not have an enclosure. They are intended for use in applications related to the generation, transmission, distribution, and conversion of electric energy, as well as for controlling electric energy-consuming equipment.
The standard also covers assemblies designed for special service conditions such as those found in ships, rail vehicles, and electrical equipment of machines. However, for assemblies forming part of a machine, additional requirements can be found in the IEC 60204 series.
The second edition of IEC 61439-2:2011 supersedes the first edition published in 2009 and contains several technical revisions. These revisions include clarifying the scope, revising requirements for withdrawable and removable parts, updating the mechanical impact test, extending Table 101, reviewing Table BB.1 to reflect modified requirements and verifications, and conducting a general editorial review.
It is important to note that this standard should be read in conjunction with IEC 61439-1:2009, which provides general rules and requirements for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies.
