Live Working - Insulating Sticks and Attachable Devices - Part 2: Attachable Devices
Also Known As:
IEC 60832-2:2010 is a standard that specifies the requirements for attachable devices that can be used with insulating sticks for live working on a.c. electrical installations. These attachable devices, when used correctly by skilled individuals, contribute to the safety of the users. The standard is an updated version of the original IEC 60832 standard published in 1988, and it aims to separate the requirements and testing of insulating sticks from those of attachable universal devices.
Some of the major changes included in IEC 60832-2 are the updating of the list of devices, clarification of the document's applicability to attachment systems other than splined end-fitting, and the implementation of conformity assessment for products that have completed the production phase. The conformity assessment follows the guidelines set forth in IEC 61318:2007 (Edition 3), which focuses on defect classification and the introduction of alternative testing methods for production follow-up.
