Equipment for General Lighting Purposes - EMC Immunity Requirements
Also Known As:
IEC 61547:2020 is a standard that focuses on the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) immunity requirements for equipment used for general lighting purposes. This standard applies to various lighting apparatus such as lamps, luminaires, and modules, and is relevant to the work of IEC Technical Committee 34. The third edition of this standard, published in 2020, replaces and supersedes the previous edition from 2009.
One of the key updates in this edition is the expansion of the standard's scope to include end-user replaceable modules and the combination of such modules with independent auxiliary equipment. The testing requirements and procedures for modules within a host system are also clarified. Additionally, the standard introduces higher test levels for electrostatic discharge (ESD) and surges specifically for road and street lighting equipment. The updated edition also brings in new testing procedures for ESD under normal operation and handling conditions. Lastly, it notes the removal of the line to ground surge test for self-ballasted lamps with a power rating of 25W.
