Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes - Safety Requirements for Portable Sealed Secondary Cells, and for Batteries Made from Them, for Use in Portable Applications - Part 2: Lithium Systems
Also Known As:
The IEC 62133-2:2017+A1:2021 standard focuses on safety requirements for portable sealed secondary lithium cells and batteries that contain non-acid electrolytes. Its purpose is to ensure the safe operation of these batteries during their intended use and even in situations of reasonably foreseeable misuse. This standard is a technical revision that replaces the second edition of IEC 62133 published in 2012.
A few significant technical changes have been made in this edition. Firstly, it separates nickel systems into a separate part (Part 1) of the standard. It also includes requirements specifically for coin cell batteries. The assembly of cells into batteries has been updated, and mechanical tests related to vibration and shock have been added. Additionally, the standard now includes IEC TR 62914 in its bibliography, which provides additional information related to the topic.
