Reality Block Diagrams
Also Known As:
The EIA 61078-2018 standard provides guidelines and procedures for the use and analysis of reliability block diagrams (RBDs) in dependability analysis. RBDs are used to model the dependability of a system and assess its reliability.
The standard outlines the requirements for applying RBDs in dependability analysis and explains the procedures for both qualitative and quantitative analysis using RBDs. It also provides guidance on calculating availability, failure frequency, and other reliability measures for different types of systems, considering constant or time-dependent probabilities of block success or failure, as well as non-repaired or repaired blocks.
The standard also highlights some theoretical aspects and limitations to be considered when performing calculations for availability, failure frequency, and reliability measures using RBDs. Additionally, it discusses the relationships between RBDs and other dependability analysis techniques such as fault tree analysis and Markov techniques.
