Medical Electrical Equipment - Part 2-59: Particular Requirements for the Basic Safety and Essential Performance of Screening Thermographs for Human Febrile Temperature Screening
Also Known As:
The CSA C22.2 NO. 80601-2-59:21 standard is the Canadian adoption of the international standard IEC 80601-2-59 (second edition, 2017-09), with Canadian deviations. It supersedes the previous edition published in 2010. This standard is part of a series of standards issued by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code.
The scope of the standard is to establish the basic safety and essential performance requirements for screening thermographs used for non-invasive febrile temperature screening of humans under controlled environmental conditions. It sets laboratory characterization test limits for the screening thermograph. It is important to note that a screening thermograph is used for screening a human subject and detecting elevated skin temperature, and a subsequent temperature measurement using a clinical thermometer is required for confirmation.
The standard applies to both medical electrical equipment and medical electrical systems, unless otherwise specified in a clause or subclause. The objective of this standard is to establish specific basic safety and essential performance requirements for screening thermographs as defined in the document.
