Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 5-2: Control circuit devices and switching elements - Proximity switches
Also Known As:
CSA C22.2 NO. 60947-5-2:14 (R2019) is a harmonized standard developed by CSA Group and UL. It is the first edition of the CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60947-5-2 standard and the third edition of UL 60947-5-2. The standard is based on IEC 60947-5-2, Edition 2.2, and its amendments 1 and 2.
The scope of this standard applies to different types of proximity switches, including inductive and capacitive proximity switches, ultrasonic proximity switches, photoelectric proximity switches, and non-mechanical magnetic proximity switches. These switches are self-contained and have semiconductor switching elements. They are intended to be connected to circuits with a rated voltage of up to 250 V AC or 300 V DC. However, the standard does not cover proximity switches with analog outputs.
The objective of this standard is to provide definitions, classifications, characteristics, product information, normal service, mounting and transport conditions, constructional and performance requirements, and tests to verify rated characteristics for proximity switches.
The standard also includes two modifications: 1.1DV.1 DR, which adds requirements for equipment used in ordinary locations and general requirements applicable in Canada, and 1.1DV.2 D1, which specifies that the equipment requirements are intended for use in an ambient temperature of 0 to 40°C unless otherwise stated.
