PD ISO/TS 10303-16:2021 specifies a mapping of SysML constructs to EXPRESS elements. This mapping enables the representation of SysML models, which are represented in XMI format, as EXPRESS schemas. It should be noted that this transformation is only one-way, meaning it allows the conversion of SysML information models in XMI format into EXPRESS schemas.

The standard focuses on the transformation of SysML metamodel constructs represented in XMI to EXPRESS elements specifically for representing SysML information models as EXPRESS schemas. The transformation of SysML metamodel constructs into EXPRESS elements that are not used in the STEP Extended Architecture is excluded from the scope of this document. The STEP Extended Architecture is defined in References [8], [9], and [10].

Additionally, the transformation of SysML metamodel constructs into EXPRESS elements for purposes other than representing SysML constructs as STEP concepts is also outside the scope. The document does not cover the codes and scripts required for the transformation process or the conversion of SysML constraints (specified using OCL) into EXPRESS global and local rules. Lastly, the transformation of EXPRESS elements into SysML constructs is not addressed by this standard.
