Standard EN SampleStarter Batteries - Lead-Acid
Also Known As:
The AS 2149:2003 standard establishes guidelines for lead-acid batteries used as power sources in various applications, primarily for starting internal combustion engines, lighting, and auxiliary equipment in vehicles. The standard covers both 12 V and 6 V batteries.
The scope of the standard includes batteries for passenger cars, as well as commercial and industrial vehicles for normal and severe use. It also includes batteries used in deep-cycling applications, such as marine use, taxis, and coaches. However, the standard does not apply to batteries for starting railcar internal combustion engines, motorcycle batteries, or aircraft batteries.
It is worth noting that certain requirements for valve-regulated batteries, such as control valves, seal integrity, gas recombination efficiency, and endurance towards high temperatures and vibration, will be considered in the next revision of the standard.
